| The underground complex of San Michele delle Grotte (or Sant'angelo) is located in the town of Altamura, Via Madonna della Croce. Inhabited since the tenth century AD, today is characterized by the presence of a cave-church and other cavities, the only surviving building expansion in the area has undergone in the last century.
Guarded by a family in town, was donated all'Archivio Biblioteca Museo Civico in 2000 with a bequest by the lawyer. Cleric Pasquale, who had been for long years of The Board of Directors.
Currently it is taking steps to recover the entire area of the church and the frescoes in it. |
