| The main symbol of Senj is the Nehaj fortress that was built on the coastline in 1558 under orders from Captain Herbert the 8th and Ivan Lenkovic general for the Croatian military. The fortress is square shaped and has lots of cannon openings in the wall. The fortress contains a display of weapons including cannons and on the top of the building is a viewing platform with views over Senj. There is also a collection about the local costume, photography about the local churches and a display about the coats of arms used in the building. |
