It was built on the foundations of a Roman temple and dates from the 16th century. In the 18th century the triple-naved church became a single-naved one. A septum was included in the earlier church. The facade of the church has remained unfinished. Some Roman stelae are built into the foundations of the church, along with some gravestones and medieval fragments. Along the top of the facade there is a Romanesque relief of angels.
