This Church was built on the foundations of the old Church and consecrated in 1898. When the Diocese of Bihać and Petrovac was founded in 1923, it became the Cathedral Church. In 1941 it was the first Church to be targeted and destroyed by the Ustashe (Croat Nazis). After the Second World War, the Municipality of Bihac erected offices on the site of the Cathedral. As a replacement, the Municipality provided a totally inadequate building site for a new Cathedral in a different part of Bihać. Since a new Cathedral could not be built there, services took place in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, which had become a parish house in 1960. This Chapel was destroyed by the BHA in 1992. During the 1992-1995 war, the dome of the bell tower and the floor were damaged and the Church walls were covered with graffiti.
