Description:
Karin’s Franciscan monastery is dedicated to the Holy Virgin Mary and was erected in the fifteenth century on top of the remains of a ninth century Benedictine monastery. It was badly damaged in both the Turkish wars and the ’91 and ’95 war and is undergoing restoration. Parts of the building are in the Gothic style with Baroque style windows. Loop holes have been found which date from the fifteenth century.
