The Brijuni Safari Park extends over nine hectares and the park was founded in 1978. The park contains a wide variety of animals such as Indian elephants, llamas, zebras and camels. The safari park contains animals that were given to Josip Broz Tito who was the Yugoslav’s communist state leader and who used the Brijuni islands as his state summer residence. Many of the animals are gifts from countries such as Ethiopia and India.
