Description:
Galesnik is a medieval town fortress that is situated 210 metres above sea level. It was the stronghold of the Slavogosti family who became allied with the Omis inhabitants when they rebelled in 1310 against the Venetians. The fortress was built on top of an Illyrian and Roman structure. The name of the fortification is said to come from Galesa Slavogosti who led the above rebellion. The road leading to the fortress is Roman.
