| The only puppet theater in Belgrade, it was founded in 1972, as the Traveling Puppet Theater by a small group of enthusiasts. In 1973, it got its present-day name and played the first performance in the present building of the Theater. In 1978, it got the status of a professional Belgrade theater. In time, it has become a synonym of puppetry in our country.
Its repertory includes the performances based on the thoemes of classical fairy tales, myths, legends, and epic poetry. The Theater has participated at numerous domestic and international festivals, and won a series of major awards and plaudits. Annually, it stages five premieres and plays about 250 performances, on its own stage and as guest performances.
The Theater is the main organizer of the Festival of Monodrama and Pantomime in Zemun. |
