Description:
S. Francesco church was donaded to the Franciscan Monks by Countess Tommasa di Palearia in 1276. The monks reconstructed it adding a cloister and convent. The ashlar façade with horizontal crown (raised at a later date) features a portal fron the school of Nicola Mancino (14th C.). On the right side is a 13th C. portal from a single rectangular nave and and a square choir. It underwent work in the 17th and 18th centuries and hauses two carved wooden confessional, a painting on canvas with the coat-of-arms of the Farina family. The high altar consists of a 14th C. sarcophagus in red Verona marble. A wall with policrome stuccowork separates the nave from the carved wooden choir. On the left side of the church is the brick cloister with rounded arches on small pillars.
