| It was situated on the imposing Mount Pallano massif, which dominates the central and lower Sangro Valley, for control, defence and shelter of the population and the livestock. The extraordinay megalithic walls built between the 5th and 6th century BC, in some cases incorporating natural rocky outcrops, can still be seen today. The stretch of qall that bars acess to the mountain from the northeast featured trree gates, characterised by mighty monolithic architraves, still discernible. The presence of several stone shelthers testifies the presence of shepherds, who reached the site from the nearby sheep track. |
