| Güssing Castle kept its romantic character of a ruin and can be called one of Austria´s most beautiful castles.
A wooden fortification was built as early as 1157 and in the 13th century an impressive rock castle replaced the wooden construction. In 1524 the castle was given to the Batthyánys who transformed the castle into a cultural center. |
