It is midnight and groups of musicians, accompanying young men in love who read the "chezetta" to the women of their dream, start their tour from different parts of town. These are groups of longtime friends, who get together over the Christmas holiday. The "chezetta" is a poem written in dialect by various members of the group, full of rhymes that oscillate betwiin nostalgia and joy, echoing the classic theme of courtship. The entire town's historic centre is filled with excitement and close to 1 a.m. the first groups start to gather; sounds and songs interweave with the voices and locals and tourists who make their way to listen under the house of the chosen girl, the public declaration of love by her suitor. |
