| For almost 900 years, the monastery Klosterneuburg acts as a sacral and cultural centre.
In 1133, Leopold III changed his residence to Klosterneuburg.
During that same year, he entrusted the Augustinians with the administration of the monastery.
In 1730, the emperor Karl VI had plans to enlarge Klosterneuburg and turn it into a mighty monasterial residence. After his death, however, the project was abandoned, and the monastery remained as a Baroque building site. |
