| The former convent of Santa Maria in Vico, founded in 1570, about two kilometers from the city, came out unscathed from the Napoleonic suppression, but was closed with the Piedmont and passed to the State. The municipality of Avezzano, however, meant that the brothers never leave the place of Santa Maria in Vico, one of which was appointed rector of the church and the cemetery in the urban built environment.

The new convent and church, built with the offerings of the faithful, especially with a generous donation of Pope Benedict XV, was inaugurated on 1 May 1920 under the title of the Sacred Heart, the church, then, was consecrated April 30, 1922 .
