Slatina Monastery, convent for nuns, was the first monastery founded by Alexandru Lapusneanu (1558) at 30 kilometers from Falticeni City. There is a legend saying that one anchorite who was living in this nice place, gave an advice to Lapusneanu: to build one monastery starting from one sycamore which was growing up there. Historian Grigore Ureche mentioned in one of his chronicle, as date of blessing 14th of October 1558, but on the votive inscription placed by abbot Nil in 1572 says it had been blessed in 1561. The monastery’s dedication day is “The Transfiguration”, attested also in the Slavic inscription up to the church’s door. The plan of the monastery has a rectangular, irregular form. The surrounding walls are made of river rocks, with merging rocks in the corners, with bulwarks and guarding alley.
