| Near Crecchio, the archaelogist Andrea Staffa has excavated a large Byzantine villa, inhabited between the 6th and the 7th centuries A.D., with the help of the voluntary members of the Italian Archeoclub. In the cistern of this villa, a real archaelogical treasure has been found. The 12th century castle of Crecchio hosts the Museum of Byzantine and Early-Middle-Ages Abruzzo, where the Roman villa finds are exhibited. |
