| The church of San Francesco, originally dedicated to St. Louis, was founded in 1326. For over three hundred years, the convent, for Civitella, a center of incisive religious and cultural promotion. In fact, thanks to the monastery many men both clerical and lay people learned to read and write. Over the centuries, the complex underwent various deletions, until, in 1866 as a result of a decree of Victor Emanuel II, the monastery had to abandon it.
The facade, which still retains its original features, is the Romanesque-Gothic style.
The interior is in Baroque style and a nave. Inside it has a beautiful walnut choir |
