| The church was built around 1000. Up to 1644 it was dedicated to St. Basil and was officiated by monks of greek rite. The church plan is a Greek cross, modeled on those Basilian, and has three aisles divided by four columns and terminating in apses. At the center of the nave there is a hemispherical dome, covered outside by a pyramid of stone chips on the outside (chiancarelle), in line with tradition in Puglia. Inside the church is preserved a silver casket in which are stored the remains of a consecrated host fried, tied to the legend of a Eucharistic miracle.
