| The oldest seat of the Municipality was constituted by the so-called Sala, a building that no longer exists, located opposite the castle, on the right side of the entrance to the current Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.
The current building, used as a public library (named after Anthony Bruno), was probably erected shortly before 1700 and only later housed the headquarters of the municipality.
During the construction of this, was distorted via Maggiore, who went straight from Castle Square (now Piazza Vittorio Emanuele 11) to the Mother Church. The low tower on the facade was built in 1819 for keeping the clock from the tower of the Cathedral Church. In 1870 the original building was renovated in parts, the facade was rebuilt and the tower was softened by the superposition of a Tuscan colonnade, which was once one of the two smaller towers flanking the dome of the Cathedral Church. |
