| The building construction according to local tradition was initiated by the order of monastic knights Templar.
After the destruction of 1528, the complex went to the Dominicans who they named San Domenico. In 1661 began the construction of the great convent still visible.
Suppressed the monastery in 1806, the building has changed several times target. Today it houses the restoration workshops of works of art, a training school for restorers, and is home to temporary exhibitions and conferences.
The facade has a single input, two pairs of narrow pilasters and flanked by two niches. The internal repeats the division into three aisles, covered with wooden trusses and arches central linear leading to the marble altar, donated by Luigi Della Marra in 1701. On the altar lies a painting (seventeenth century) consists of five panels, representing the Glory of St. Dominic. |
