The church of Sant'Egidio was a church in the old town of Gessopalena. Today only ruins of the building. It is the largest church in the old country and is now part of the archaeological park and museum where the ancient city has been transformed. It is believed that the church of medieval origin, was part of a monastery complex now disappeared. The only decorative element was to decorate the building is the site of the sixteenth century style, perhaps belonging to a later phase of the building. The phase of the destruction of the temple began in 1850. In 1933, the fate of the church was marked by an earthquake, which resulted in the gradual abandonment of the old village, to the bombing of the Second World War that hit all the historical center. Recently, the ruin has been subjected to actions of accommodation and replacement, involving all the historical center. The time now is rendered barely distinguishable as a place of worship than the other buildings only through the portal.
