| n 1977 the town of Ceglie made solemn tribute to Emilio Night, the undisputed master of Futurism, with the establishment of a municipal gallery of modern art, which brings together ten of the most important works of the artist, now housed in the elegant halls of Allegretti palace, home, among other things, the public library. Among the greatest expressions of contemporary Italian art, Emilio was born in Ceglie Night January 30, 1891 by Venetian parents, later moved to Lagonegro, Serino and Cattle, where Emilio attended the grammar school, and finally to Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi.
The most important artwork of the painter, kept at Ceglie, is the "Crucifixion", whose singularity is given by the attitude of the skeletal body of Christ on the Cross and the man he portrays. |
