Description:
The church stands on a natural cave that has been used since 900 d. C. The religious function of the place is evidenced by the frescoes in Byzantine style and the stone altars. The fresco of the Virgin with the child and gives the church its name to the district. In the fourteenth century on the ancient place of worship is the church built by the master-architect Domenico De Juliano. The facade of the church in late Gothic style, features a rose and two bell towers. Beside the church, the farm is located on the premises of an ancient monastery then used to use in the spring of the many pilgrims who went to the sanctuary (especially in the sixteenth century.).
