| The Museum of the Archdiocese of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie-Nazareth was founded in 1975 by the will of Archbishop Giuseppe Carafa to accommodate the material and sculptural stone from the cathedral and other churches of Trani. Museum is divided into nine sections, from which they are allocated: a library of art history and archeology; the treasure of the Cathedral(made up of church ornaments, silverware, a small ivory altar donated by Charles of Anjou (Century XIV); stone fragments from the cathedral; artifacts liturgical use and precious vestments; reliquaries in painted wood busts (XVII-XVIII centuries); a collection of relics; portraits, busts, coats of arms, inscriptions, tombstones on the local archbishops; a rich archaeological collection. The gallery in the great room welcomes canvases and boards of the diocese, as the major table oil with St. Albert the Great, St. Redeemed, St. Nicholas of Myra, St. Jerome, perhaps made by the painter ZT (XVI century); and works depicting Saint Nicholas the patron saint of the pilgrim town of Trani. |
