| The marquis palace of Laterza, was built in 1548, in place of the ancient castle of the fourteenth century. Of the original fortification, now remains only about two meters deep underground corridor, which connects the palace to the church of Victoria. The reconstruction of the castle was taken by the Lords of Azzia who decided to completely rebuild the fort, making it decent, safe and hospitable mansion.
The building needed on the north side some considerable defensive measures, while on the south side of the ravine was a natural defense for the entire village. On the north side there were: a moat, drawbridge, battlements and arrow slits. |
