| The Spanish winery or "cave Mammoci" is a rock church of the seventeenth century that stands below the plateau of San Pietro, close to the bridge that leads to Ginosa. is the only cave in which the representations are complemented by painted sculptures in high relief. Near the entrance, in fact, carved ceiling bedrock, there are two Mascheroni, whose use was purely superstitious to ward off evil spirits. It can be assumed that the part facing the entrance was at first used as a church, as evidenced by the altar against the wall and left traces of frescoes of worship:
- "The Nativity";
- The "banished from Eden of Adam and Eve": Eve to Adam stretches out his arm, which, next to a tree full of leaves, the fruit holds in her hand;
- Fresco depicting twelve priests holding objects of worship. |
