| Ginosa is surrounded by ravines on three sides, it is at 240 mt above sea level and is 54 km far away from Taranto.
The caves that are displayed along the wall of the ravine are of particular interest too. They have many rocky settlings with many churches refined very well that have many paintings of the XII-XIV century inside. There are also the Cripta di San Bartolomeo, with its smart and well kept frescos, the Cripta di Santa Sofia I and the Chiesa di Santa Barbara, where still today there is a painting of the saint.
In Contrada Casale there are a lot of domus palaciate, constructed above a cave, often used as stables. Simple houses in rave are usually composed of two rooms with a main entrance, a big fireplace in the first room and a stable on the back.
From the naturalistic point of view, particularly striking are the numerous ravines which stress within the municipal boundary: Valle del Archiprete, the Oscurusciuto, Canale San Giuseppe,Torrente Lagnone Tondo, Canale di Palombaro, Torrente Gravinella, Canal Cecera, Selva Venusio, the Difesella, Gravina Grande, Passo di Giacobbe, Gravinella di Cavese e Canale San Pellegrino, Fosso dell'Alloro and Gravinella del Cacciatore. |
