Description:
Place of worship in the village of Triglie, the crypt is composed of two aisles with "single apse" by which leads to two side compartments. Close to the hypogeum there are some houses and eight rock-cut tombs. Triglie may be considered "medieval rock station" clearly emphasizing the strategic importance of the rock settlement. it was owned by the monastery of "S. Vito del Pizzo" in Taranto from 1117 to 1480. The settlement of Triglie was still inhabited in 1651 as evidenced by a notarial deed bearing that date, the entire area remained under ecclesiastical rule at least until 1840 because on that date, the Poor Clares of Taranto still owned the farm of Mesole at Triglie.
