| The Diocesan Museum is housed in the seventeenth century Bishop's Palace. The collection exhibits materials from the Cathedral and other churches in town: witnesses of the history of the cathedral; vestments; church ornaments; silver eighteenth-century paintings from the fifteenth to the seventeenth century goldsmiths; wooden statues for a crib (XV century); a wooden cross of the fourteenth century Byzantine icon of the Madonna and Child (1275 approx); the bust of Francis II Del Balzo, by Francesco Laurana (XV century); a portable altar of the thirteenth century; three panels painted by Antonio Vivarini representatives respectively S. Clare, and St. Augustine Bernardino, and two paintings by Tuccio D'Andria (XV century) depicting the Madonna and Christ blessing. |
