The church of S. Luigi was built in the early sixteenth century on the ruins of the church of St. Ludovico, where he was buried Louis I of Anjou died in 1384 at Barletta. Much of the current Baroque appearance dates back to the work performed between 1774 and 1784. Adjoining the church is the convent of Poor Clares, founded in 1330, rebuilt in 1519 and still active as convent. Outside the church shows a sober façade, pierced only by a simple portal and a baroq uwindow above, and enlivened by strips of pilasters. Inside the church of S. Luigi performs a Baroque rich in color, obtained by fusion of different decorative arts: murals, wood inlays of organs and marble, carved silver. Inside there is a large dome, full of stucco and grisaille, which is lit by large windows arranged around the baroque. Inside the church you can admire a painting of the Madonna and Child enthroned between St. Antonio and S. Francis, a painting of St. Catherine of Alexandria, two inlaid bronze bells, one in 1531 and another in 1713.
