Description:
Located in the middle of the island of Beška on Skadar Lake. The monastery consists of two churches: a larger one, dedicated to St. Đorđe (14th century), and a smaller one dedicated to the Holy Mother of God (1440). Beška Monastery was famous for its intensive transcription activities. The Gorička Anthology was written in this monastery. In the dramatic events of the 20th century the monastery was desolated and has not been restored yet. Jelena Balsic’s tomb is also located in the church.
