| The church-crypt has been excavated in a tuff block skirted by an old local road. It is surmounted by a small bell gable and has three naves divided by two pillars and closed by apses. The only remains of the original furnishings are the altars, a tract of a step-seat and some scattered niches. There are not many remains of the thirtheenth-century wall decoration, but we can still observe a fresco set in the right aisle close to the entrance. It portrays some scenes of the Passion. We can recognize two Saints holding a large drape with scenes of the Flagellation , the Crucifixion and the Resurrection of Christ enclosed in three circles. Above this drape we see the depiction of the Father with two Angels by His sides, in the lower part there are nimbi of six Saints whose faces are however lost. |
