S.VINCENZO TOWER
Secular building
no
S.Vincenzo Tower or Turreted House probably dates back to the middle of the 16th century and was part of the wide project of territorial rearming decided by Carlo V. The name Turreted House probably indicates a building with the features of both the fortification and the noble house. The building was in fact part of a defensive system consisting of three towers set in correspondence of the main road axis which connected the town with the surrounding area. During the next centuries it has lost its original function and has been transformed into a dwelling residence, with some enlargements at the ground floor. On the whole the building is of good making and the diamond-point ashlars set in the lower part of the tower are often present in other buildings such as Sangiovanni Palace at Alessano, and the courtyard of Adorni Palace in Lecce.
