| The woodland park known as the “Parco di Bosco Occhiazzi” measures about 2 hectares in the countryside around Ruffano, close to the slopes that lead to Casarano.
The vegetation, made up of broom, myrtle and wild orchids, is an interesting example of Mediterranean scrub.
There are also many olive trees, some of which are centuries old.
Occhiazzi park is one of the few examples left of a habitat that in great part has been lost due to extensive farming.
The park has been well equipped with rest areas and toilets.
The park also has a visitor’s centre and exhibition room, situated inside the Tower of the Madonna della Serra, a defence structure which dates back to the 16th century.
