| The castle of Tutino is one of the few castles of Salento that still retains the original moat. Built in the fifteenth century, is built mainly with stones shapeless. Originally, there were several towers along the walls. Today there are five, connected by a walkway.
Towards the end of the sixteenth century, Alessano Andrea Gonzaga gave the castle to Don Luigi Trani, who transformed the castle into a mansion. On the eastern side, was built an elegant Renaissance facade with a nice porch decorated by the family coat of arms. Finiestre on the facade are the mottos in Latin. Each of the front windows back in the decoration of the architrave a motto in Latin. After the castle became the property of the barons Gallon and finally the building was used for the tobacco industry until the mid-twentieth century. |
