| The “Li Scusi” dolmen is in open countryside on the road which goes from Minervino di Lecce to Uggiano la Chiesa. It is one of the most representative prehistoric monuments in the Salento area. The megalith is made up of a slab of crude limestone measuring around 4 metres by 2.6 metres, supported by six pillars made by placing smaller stones one on top of the other. One of the most widely accepted hypotheses for this type of monument is that they were used for some type of worship or as part of a funerary rite. Though that is definitely not the case here. |
