The Diocesan museum in Ugento uses rooms beneath the Cathedral, once sepulchres for the clergy and the community. The exhibition is a grouping of pieces of art history relating to the Ugento Diocese, known to have existed since the 12th century. Near the entrance there is information on the history of the Diocese and some old portraits of bishops. The first of the five rooms is all about the Cathedral of Ugento. The second room looks at the Saints protecting the Diocese, including Saint Vincent of Saragozza, patron saint of Ugent. An exhibition of holy wall hangings, silverware and paintings follows. These things bear witness to the relationship which existed in the 17th and 18th centuries between Ugento and Naples, where most of the Bishops and the objects came from. The last room is dedicated to representing the Eucharist, through paintings and objects which remind us of The Last Supper.
