Description:
The chapel of Saints Cosma and Damiano in Ugento is in via Salentina. Little is known about its construction. The building there today dates back to 1886. Wide steps lead up to the entrance. It is likely that the previous church which stood here was Byzantine and was dedicated to Saint Lucy. After the church was rebuilt anything which could tell us anything about its past was destroyed leaving only the ancient cult of the saint, who is venerated together with the Saints Cosma and Damiano in one of the two altars within.
