| The feudal castle of Giuliano di Lecce, built in the early years of the sixteenth century, is situated in the ancient heart of the village. The fortress is one of the few in Salento, to have maintained its original appearance. The moat is home to a citrus grove.
The castle is on the characteristics of the military architecture of the sixteenth century, characterized by square towers. A large arched bridge allows access to the interior of the castle, beyond the moat. Around a large central courtyard, overlooking all the rooms on the ground floor and the first floor. On the ground floor there are rooms dedicated to productive activities (stables, barns, warehouses and rooms for the servants). The upper floor was the home of the landowner. |
