The actual façade, in a linear late-Baroque style, was redone in 1725 by Ferdinando Sanfelice and lets guess the internal division in three naves. The lower part presents in the middle the central portal separated by the two lateral ones by two couples of pilaster strips. Above the lateral portals there are two round rose-windows. The upper floor presents in the middle a large polygonal rose-window surmounted by a cornice. On the southern side, towards Salandra Square, there’s a lateral entrance with a portal decorated in 1768 under the bishophood of Fortunato. Inside, the division in three naves is based on five rows of columns, surmounted by precious capitals; There are nine chapels, whose altars are enriched by tortile columns in a typical baroque style; it has a wood trussed roof. On the walls there are numerous late-Byzantine frescos (centuries XIV-XV), such as S. Nicholas, Christ on the Throne, Saint Augustine, and a Virgin with Child dating back to 1511. The frescos of the apsidal conch, dating to the early 20th century, have been attributed to Cesare Maccari. The wood choir of 1590 is very beautiful. In the Crucifix Chapel (left aisle) there is a precious Black Christ, a work of Iberian culture reported to the Neapolitan background in XIII-XIV century.
