The Parish Church of the Virgin of the Snow was started under Gottfried in 1088 and completed in by Manfred of Swabia. The five-sided apse and the bell-tower were added in 1576 by architect Francesco Maria Tarantino. In the 18th century the interior of the church was decorated in the baroque style and the original Romanesque frescos were lost. There are three aisles, columns with sumptuous capitals, altars and a beautiful wooden choir engraved by Raffaele Monteanni; the 17th-century altar by Antonio Donato Chiarello is surmounted by a 15th-century fresco of the Virgin of the Snow.
