The construction of the "Church dell'Iconella" or Saint Mary of Constantinople can be dated to around 1667. It was built as a work of devotion, and is small. The church has an octagonal shape and is dedicated to Our Lady of Constantinople, a cult keenly felt in Salento between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The church is best known as Madonna dell'Iconella because there is an icon of the Blessed Virgin painted on the altar. Around this chapel takes place a feast deeply felt for the recurrence of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. This festival is held also the "presa della cuccagna" (greasy pole). From 1806 there is also a fair takes place, the oldest of the city.
the feast and the fair of "Our Lady dell'Iconella" (Madonna te la cuneddhra) takes place on 8 September.
