| The parish church, titled "Sancti Pauli Pesculum Serule", is mentioned in a bull of Pope Paschal The early as 1115.
The church stands on a pre-existing monastic cell Pauline (800/850 AD). The church much restored, keeps the Romanesque portal fragmented in the right flank and the base of the Campanile.
In the sixteenth century the church was enlarged and the bell tower was rebuilt . In the apse you can admire a beautiful choir and a lectern carved in Baroque style, in the sacristy is preserved a silver processional cross of the Sulmona school of 400.
In the left aisle is the altar shrine of the Black Madonna (The Crowned). The figurine, black wood, with a globe in his right hand and carrying on her left arm the Child, dating back to an unknown date. |
