| The Scheia Fortress was raised at the end of the 16th century, during Petru Musat's rule. It is situated at about 1.5 km to the north-west from the city of Suceava, on the Zamca peak, at an altitude of 384 meters.
The fortress is rhomb-shaped, with 36-meters long sides. The wall is 3-meter thick and each corner has a rectangular tower, and three solid abutments protect the Eastern side of the wall.
A moat dug in the North-Eastern and South-Eastern sides was meant to increase the defence of the the fortress. |
