| The Holy Face, considered the original image exposed, many centuries ago, on Veronica's altar in Rome, was stolen in the 17th century. This trasparent veil that portrays the image of Christ is considered, togheter with the Holy Shroud of Turin, one of the two original faces of Christ, an "acheropita" image, that is, not made by human hands. Every year the suggestive Holy Face attracts thousands of toursts and piligrms and in 2006 Pope Benedict XVI visited the Sanctuary. |
