| It was originally a keep that later developed into a fortress. The original building, a square plan with round corner towers, was transformed by Giacomo Caldora, feudatory of Vasto in about 1439, using more up-to-date fortification techniques. Partially demolished by Vasto's popular uprisings, the castle was then converted into a fort towards the end of the 15th C. |
