St. Anton am Arlberg is the cradle of alpine skiing, this is where the wedel was invented. You can learn about the skiing greats who tumbled around on the pistes of this famous winter sports venue in the St. Anton Museum of Skiing and Local History. The “equipment” they used may cause some people to laugh, but then as now, they delighted in ideal piste conditions: “Zwoa Brettln, a gführiger Schnee, juchee!” The Arlberg-Kandahar House, in which the museum is located, was built in 1912 and stands in an idyllic recreation park. It tells the history and St. Anton and the Arlberg in a lively way. The museum restaurant pampers with home-made cakes or a deliciously prepared trout, which guests can even catch themselves.
