Church of San Paolo
Church, ruined church, chapel, temple
Catholic
no
Most likely, it was Charles I d’Angiò in 1284 who donated land to the Franciscans for a church dedicated to St. Paul of Thebes, the first Holy hermit. The structure has undergone various adaptations and transformations over the years, primarily the façade rebuilt in the course of 1800, following a collapse. The interior has an array of frescoes, which are now faint images due to important baroque decorations added in more modern times. There are seven altars in Lecce stone, showing that Salento culture had also spread to the province of Brindisi.
