The first part of the castle, probably of Norman origin, is identified with the square tower. The buildings after 1440 insisting on the north, incorporating a triangular structure and the square Norman tower, and the circular one, perhaps Spanish. The almond-shaped tower placed on the northeast corner was built, between 15th and 16th century, by Loffreda, lords of Carovigno. All these factories are affected by the climate of innovation that has invested, between the 15th and 16th centuries, the art of war and fortifications. With the construction of the almond-shaped tower, the castle takes the triangular floor plan will remain unchanged over time, despite numerous restoration.
