Ever since medieval times Hall has been a center of minting. The mints in Hall were fed by the rich silver and copper mines found in the area around Hall and Schwaz. As such it minted the first "Taler" or "Valley Coin". This became an important currency and made its way around the globe becoming the namesake of the dollar. Today Hall is an idyllic town on the Inn river. Its medieval center still manages to charm visitors young and old. The Mint Museum and other mining and minting related sights as well as the narrow alleys promise a fascinating day for any cultural tourist lucky enough to visit this jewel of alpine history.
